Romance. He generally accompanies the man and woman, denoting something that is yet unexpressed or unexplained between the two lovers. Sometimes he kicks back and wears a top hat.

Man and Woman
The man and woman may be the main subjects, or their profiles are on each side of painting. In certain situations the man will represent firmness and commitment. The woman has a nurturing spirit and represents flexibility. When together, the man and woman balance each other out.
Muse
Character that blows his horn to demand attention and tells everyone to "chill out" or calm down. The muse may be blowing hearts or stars out of his horn to announce love , joy or celebration.
Bird of Discernment
Wisdom. This bird was the first of Howard's signs and is considered the most important. This character has one leg longer than the other. One leg is in the "real" world and one leg is in the "unreal" world. He is able to distinguish between the two worlds. Many times you may see this bird on the man's shoulders, counseling him in his life decisions. He is also called a "wise bird."
Princess the Cat
Domestication. She usually has a few fish in her belly to keep her happy.
Angel
Protection/the protector. The angle also watches over the couple since they're always getting into mischief. Many times she will accompany the muse in Howard's paintings.
Boat of Life
Represents the journey through life.
Sun
Warmth, light, strength, and masculinity. May also represent the human spirit of enlightenment.
